I have been teaching my photography workshop for a little over a year now and I have to say, I LOVE every minute of it!! It’s so much fun to teach parents or grandparents how to REALLY use their Digital SLR the way it should be to creatively capture their little people, and see the “light” go off when the concepts finally come together for them. It really is rewarding!
I’m so excited to announce my next workshop and final photography workshop of 2011 on September 10th. It’s the best time to learn how to shoot in Manual Mode, because the fall colours are just around the corner and it’s now time to get the most beautiful shots of your kids – starting today!
Outline
The Photo Workshop will actually take place over two sessions (approx 10 hrs of instruction), the full Saturday starts with a morning of in-house instruction on how your Digital SLR works, explanation of why to shoot manual and how, explaining Aperture, Speed & ISO in plain English so you fully understand how they all work together; learn about lenses and the difference between them all; I cover basic composition and storytelling goals to focus on when photographing your children. The intention is to have you think of different ways, more creative ways to capture your children’s lives, because we all know how fast they grow and change and it’s so important to keep records of the way they were at any age!
The afternoon we will head over to a local park with some little models recruited to run as fast as they can, play, jump, swing, smile AND frown for you so that you can practice and learn how to shoot entirely in manual! My goal is that you leave the course with the confidence to stick to manual and realize the benefits and never go back to dreaded Auto!!
The final session will be all about “after shooting”, touching on downloading, backing up, cataloging, editing and post processing. I will introduce you to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and show you my workflow when editing photos for my own collection. This session will take place during an evening about two weeks following the Saturday session, to give you time to complete the challenges I give you.
Cost
The cost of the workshop is $325, and I provide you with printed materials of everything you learn, as well as continued support even after the workshop is done.
Location
The workshop will be centrally located, meeting near Smyth and Alta Vista and the park we will shoot at is just around the corner from there
